Georgia Math Coach is a blog written by Michael Lawson. Michael is presently a 5th Grade Teacher in Georgia with certificate credentials for coaching math in Georgia Elementary Schools. The information and resources listed on this site are accumulated from 16 years of experience and instruction. Michael holds a BS degree in Computer Science Engineering from the University of Alabama and a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education (p-5) from North Georgia College and State University. He is a Georgia certified teacher with an Endorsement in Mathematics for Grades 3-5. In the Fall 2011, Michael will begin work on obtaining a certificate endorsement for Gifted Education.
The Georgia Math Coach site has been open for a couple of years, but greater time and effort is being applied to it beginning in 2011. So, keep in mind that this is a blog in progress. If you don’t find anything of interest here during this visit, be sure to come back later with the hope of finding more.
Public, Private, and Home-school teachers are welcome to print and use the activities for their classrooms. All Michael asks is that you kindly not copy the activities to claim as your own. A teacher in Georgia did that once with an excellent science web quest that Michael wrote. We don’t know if the gentleman used the activity for a college paper, but he indeed used the text and graphics and claimed the work as his own. Then he posted it on the internet without referencing the creator. If you do decide to re-post this work on the internet somewhere, simply be kind enough to put a link back to this site. Thanks!
